Ingredients
250 g plain flour extra for dusting
250 g wholemeal plain flour
1.5 tsp salt
1.5 tsp baking soda
450 g buttermilk
Directions
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Dust a baking tray with flour and set aside.
- Place the flour, wholemeal flour, salt and bicarbonate soda in mixing bowl.
- Mix all ingredients well.
- Add buttermilk and mix.
- Tip the sticky dough out onto your floured board and bring together into a ball.
- Place on the prepared baking tray.
- Dust the loaf with flour.
- Cut an X across the loaf about 3 cm deep.
- Bake for 25 to 35 mins until the loaf sounds hollow when tapped underneath.
- Transfer to wire rack and allow to cool
