Healthy Porridge Bread

Here is a great Healthy Porridge Bread that is gluten-free if you are using gluten-free oats.  Healthy Porridge Bread is a great alternative to wheat bread.  Very tasty and easy to make.

Ingredients for Healthy Porridge Bread

Large tub (500ml) low-fat natural yogurt**
360g porridge rolled oats*
2 tsp bread soda
½ tsp salt
1 egg
1 tbsp. semi-skimmed milk**

Use gluten-free if required*
Use lactose-free if required**

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (fan 160°C/gas mark 4).
  2. Place bread soda, salt and the yogurt in a mixing bowl and stir.
  3.  Next, add in your porridge oats and stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well mixed.
  4. Crack the egg into a separate bowl and beat.
  5. Add the egg in with the rest of the ingredients along with the milk and stir.
  6. Line a bread tin or oven tray with parchment paper and add-in ingredients.
  7. Sprinkle with some extra ground porridge oats.
  8. Cook for approx. 50 mins.
  9. After 50 mins, remove the bread from the tin and cook for another 10 mins.
  10. Remove from oven and leave to cool before eating.
