Slow-Cooked Mulled Wine

Slow-cooked mulled wine is ideal to prepare early in the morning and allow to cook for a few hours. Just turn the slow cooker to the temperature to keep the mulled wine warm.
If you are having guest over for Christmas Day this is a nice drink to have when they arrive.
Ingredients:
- 2 x 750ml of red wine
- 100ml Cointreau
- peeled zest of juice & 2 large oranges
- zest of 1 lemon
- 120g golden caster sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3-star anise
- 4 cloves
- slices of oranges
Directions:
Place all the ingredients (except the slices of orange) in a slow cooker on low heat for 1 .5 – 2hrs until hot. Serve in glasses – make sure heatproof or place a metal spoon in the glass before pouring so the glass will not rack. Serve with slices of orange. Then you can turn the heat to keep warm and the mulled wine will stay warm during the party.
